Is a claims specialist the same as an adjuster?

The answer is yes and no.

Claims adjusters are used by insurance companies to evaluate claims and make recommendations on the amount of money that should be paid out to the insured.
When the insured has a claim, the insurance company has to hire an adjuster to make sure that the claim is legitimate and that the amount of money being paid is appropriate.
The adjuster is the one who investigates the claim, determines the amount of money that the insured should receive and then submits the claim to the insurance company.
