Working remote for NXP Semiconductors

Does NXP Semiconductors allow remote workers?

The answer is yes, and that’s good news for freelancers and remote workers.

NXP Semiconductors, a provider of industrial-grade semiconductor solutions, announced last week that it is adding remote workers to its workforce. The company said that it is the first semiconductor company to allow its employees to work from home.
“NXP Semiconductors is a world leader in digital and analog semiconductors, and we are committed to making the most of our global talent pool,” said Jan-Peter Feldmann, NXP Semiconductors CEO, in a statement. “We are excited to announce our plans to allow our employees to work from home. The decision to take this step is based on our need to increase the flexibility of our workforce, and also reflects our desire to improve our operational performance and increase our ability to meet our customers’ needs.”
NXP Semiconductors’ new remote workers will be able to access a full range of benefits, including a flexible work schedule, a choice of multiple office locations, and a generous allowance for home office expenses. The company said that its employees can choose to work either from home or from one of its office locations, and that it will help cover the costs of commuting, phone and internet services, and office supplies.

This definition is so broad, it’s like saying “remote work” means “remote work”.
But in reality, remote work can mean a lot of different things.
